To the wiggle monsters and lateral drill artists—this is the non-negotiable foundation before any COD work: The mentality AND the technical ability to attack vertically with full commitment. No vertical threat = no respect = no space to wiggle. Get violent north-south first.

@rmcgill25 Yes certainly nuances between the two deliveries. I’ve observed it also with 3B/SS who have similar time constraint/velocity demands as QBs.

@CoachOps I've pondered this a lot. We've worked out some guys who threw like that. My issue is that the pitcher takes a big step toward the mound and is going toward the plate on delivery. QBs don't step toward the target when replicating the arm motion.

Watch where the back foot trends; beginning with a turn then shifting to a torque. The throwing arm syncs with this action by drawing back to a stretch, then cycling around to release.

Former NFL QB Davis Webb. Observe the action of the back foot. It doesn’t turn toward the target; instead, it snaps backward, establishing an anchor that generates torque, which then travels up the chain.

Scherzer’s lower body “scissors” action. The teach tape in creating torque.

Shanahan knew they were going to be in Cover-2 so he had this OTB-Dig combo to conflict the pole-runner (MLB). He can run deep and cut off the dig but he’d have to void the underneath middle and Purdy would just split the SAM and WLB to Tonges. Quick read and layering

Joe Brady weighs in on Pure Progressions... "I just think that defenses are doing such a great job nowadays of so many things look like it is pre-snap and if you live in a progression read - you can just work through it and not care about what it is going to look like post-snap."

People that think QB’s having mostly pure progression reads because they can’t handle coverages based options need to listen to this. It’s IMPOSSIBLE nowadays to figure out pre-snap what coverage a defense is in…hence pure progression.

If you want to hear about pure progression and the role it plays in todays football, KOC talks about it here starting about the 7:30 mark. I answered a question earlier today about my experience in the “pure progression vs coverage based progressions” earlier today and his explanations are great ⬇️ x.com/luke_mccown/st…

Lesson for HS & even CFB WR’s… if the DB is playing off, quit doing the dumb stuff you do all summer training, u don’t need to do anything at the LOS.. drop that head/shoulders & attack that space. Stem if u need to, but attack and push the DB upfield

Why we need strong men -- from the Grapes of Wrath "Men stood by their fences and looked at the ruined corn, drying fast now, only a little green showing through the film of dust. The men were silent and they did not move often. And the women came out of the houses to stand beside their men—to feel whether this time the men would break. The women studied the men's faces secretly, for the corn could go, as long as something else remained. The children stood near by, drawing figures in the dust with bare toes, and the children sent exploring senses out to see whether men and women would break. The children peeked at the faces of the men and women, and then drew careful lines in the dust with their toes. Horses came to the watering troughs and nuzzled the water to clear the surface dust. After a while the faces of the watching men lost their bemused perplexity and became hard and angry and resistant. Then the women knew that they were safe and that there was no break. Then they asked, What'll we do? And the men replied, I don't know. But it was all right. The women knew it was all right, and the watching children knew it was all right. Women and children knew deep in themselves that no misfortune was too great to bear if their men were whole."

High-Low on the Sam vs. Cov. 3 Sky. Hybrid Quick game drop. Effective against Zone match type defenses looking to be aggressive on underneath routes.
