Strength & Conditioning has seen an uptick of "scientism" for years. Maybe I'm being sensitive, but the trend has turned into Seminars, Conferences and Social Media being loaded with coaches sharing/presenting on other peoples research rather than sharing what their programs actually implement. Sharing research is important, but sharing how you actually implement it is even more so.
We've collected tons of data which is a good thing and absolutely has a place in guiding programming decisions, but the world isn't perfect and people aren't math problems. Understand that being a moron won't help you, but you don't need to be a Fields Medalist to be a great strength coach.
Develop your own opinions on technical mastery and attention to detail. Understand the importance of commitment, consistency and leading by example. Create your own blueprint on long term athlete health, durability and structural balance. Be a TEACHER and help your athletes learn and value the "why" behind what they're doing. Cultivate "buy in" thru holistic lenses.
The brain is the most important muscle in performance. Lets celebrate cultivating training environments full of athletes with mindsets of discipline, dedication and laser focus coupled with strength coaches who pragmatically attack programming thru holistic mindsets. Then if you choose to share, please share what you're actually doing.
