COMPASS Director of Peacebuilders Dean Jones received the @UConnSSW Trail Blazer Award. Dean is a positive role model for the youth in his community, working to build a world where they feel safe, live peacefully and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

April is National Volunteer Month, thank you to the members of our Associate Board, a dynamic group of young leaders who work to help COMPASS build a community where our youth feel safe, live peacefully, and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Meeting youth wherever they are, what does that mean? It’s in our Mission Statement, “COMPASS connects with high-risk youth wherever they are.” Well, it means two things, we connect with youth wherever they are physically and wherever they are emotionally.

Today is National Nonprofit day; we want to give a shout-out to the nonprofits who make our community better place. And special thanks to our Peacebuilders, who create a community where our youth feel safe, live peacefully, and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

In 1995 Craig was one of seven youth who rallied together to form what would become COMPASS Youth Collaborative. Craig inspired the community 26 years ago; his legacy continues to inspire us all. courant.com/community/hart…
