What really is to blame for the downfall? My personal opinion is a combination of the COT and Jimmie Johnson's vanilla dominance. The sport was on a major high and all of sudden you a boxy piece of shit with a wing and one guy winning in what was proven just Knaus grey area cars.

@Jeff_Bluck This is exactly my problem as well.
He says the Daytona 500 is his goal, but he isn’t (or shouldn’t be) a provisional candidate like Helio or Jimmie J have been. He’s a decade+ of racing away from that.
I don’t think he sees that.

This was the point of my previous post.
He doesn’t have to commit to stock car racing, but it seems he might have unrealistic expectations. As just a hobby, you’re not going to become competitive in the top-3 series. Does he know this?

@Jeff_Bluck Cleet fan here. Little disappointed if this is the route he is taking with the late model. He needs to enter races not start them! Also not a fan of trying to start a series that competes with things like the Cars TOUR.

@bcschneider53 I think it would be like a 60/40 “approve”. I think if we could get to where the cup cars raced in like 2003-2004, that’s the sweet spot where everyone wins.
But I could be wrong. Would like to see change regardless to anything but tandem.
