All Miyamoto did in terms of “handicapping” the movie was monitor what characters the could use and how.
Literally most movies have a guy like that either way.
I think at a certain point you had to come to the realization that maybe:

The crux of this is that nobody at the company has the balls to say no to Miyamoto. They’re clearly capable of great things, but it’s handicapped by whatever Miyamoto wants. Miyamoto-san has created great things in the past. Now he is massively out of touch with the audience.
