Wait one more opinion related to artist boundaries with fans of their OCs
Fans, please stop acting like you know more about artistโs OCs than they do, and stop talking over artists with your OC hcs and get annoyed when artists state otherwise about OC canon. Itโs annoying.

People tend to be really bad at striking a balance between making their characters perfect little beans who never have anything bad happen to them and victims of torture/misery porn who can never have a shred of happiness in their entire lives

OC creators should ignore people who throw around terms like โMary Sueโ and โcringeโ as insults. They just have nothing to do besides be miserable.

People often forget that characters are fundamentally narrative devices FIRST before they are people with morals
I feel a huge reason lots of discourse exists is because people forget this concept and its so exhausting to see

Itโs okay to not have elaborate oc with complex backgrounds.
You can make ocs with friends
You can make ocs that you see yourself in.
You can create characters that solely come from the heart.
Donโt stop creating!

Every single fictional character youve ever loved is somebody's OC.
If someone tries to insult you or a character you love on the basis that they " feel like an OC ", either pay them no mind or demand better critique.
Just saying " This sucks " doesnt facilitate growth.

que no te digan como hacer la historia de tu oc.
"es el clichรฉ de experimentos" "es el cliche de tal" NO IMPORTA, NO TE TIENE QUE IMPORTAR, ES TU OC Y TU ERES EL/LA รNICO QUE DECIDE COMO MANEJARLO. Si ellos tan expertos se creen en crear pasados, que lo hagan ellos.

Don't be afraid of archetypes or tropes. Your favorite character is probably inspired by an older character from a movie inspired by a character from book inspired by folklore inspired by some real historical guy. Don't worry about being unique, be interesting.
