@synthwavedd Does not look like a big jump in benchmarks But since it’s a much bigger model, I’m sure in real world use cases it will be much better. But I’m gonna be disappointed if it turns out to be another incremental upgrade.

GPT-5.6 will be better than Mythos for one simple reason: OpenAI is focused on building something that actually works in practice and meets real user needs. Anthropic, with Mythos, seems focused on crafting a marketing narrative and selling another token-consuming machine. Ultracode is the first sign of that.

Yesterday, Opus 4.8 was released. Some people clearly believe that even Anthropic’s latest model still cannot keep up with GPT-5.5. Others say that Opus 4.8 is finally a meaningful upgrade again, maybe not in raw intelligence, but in the “small things” that make a model feel good. What has your experience been? Did Opus 4.8 convince you, or are you disappointed?
