It's very likely that the bear market started in December 2024, not October 2025. Compare OTHERS (crypto market cap excluding top 10 coins) with TOTAL. In every previous cycle, TOTAL and OTHERS topped and bottomed together. Not this time. The market outside the top 10 peaked in Dec 2024, got a lower high in late 2025 and has since sold off back to April 2025 lows. So why did TOTAL make a new high in late 2025? Most likely because the coins -not- in OTHERS (BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE) all got spot ETFs. Institutional flows essentially masked the fact that the rest has been in a bear market since December 2024. BTC essentially made a new ATH during a bear market. That's why everyone says late 2024 felt more like an alt season than all of 2025. It's very likely that we're 400+ days into a bear market, not at the start of it. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, etc. just caught up with it now.
