she crawls right in behind her so she can snuggle her daughter, and she kisses her head just because. “she’s stable now, they got her oxygen levels up. she’s still not awake though.”

she’s coming into the room with a smile. “can i join you?” she asks softly, lifting her eyebrows.

she offers a small smile at that. “of course i can, but i smell,” she teases, walking further into the room before sitting on the bed next to caroline.

“i’m sorry,” she says softly, her eyes watering a bit. “i’ve never wanted any of you to see me like that. i’ve never wanted anything like that to happen,” she murmurs and shakes her head.

she nods at that, stepping into the girls room. “i remember everything,” she says softly, her smile turning into a frown. “and i know you brought me food every day. thank you.”

she smiles at that, proud of herself for having stood up and made it to the door. her body hurt, but it was almost a good hurt. “hi honey,” she says softly.
