Since I started building products, I realised that the universe has a funny way of seeding one idea to multiple people at the same time. When you think that you alone had the idea, then you start executing and realise that, no, you're not alone that got the idea at the time you did. The difference maker that I have also noticed is that your individual experience plays a very vital role in how you execute your own idea of a seeded idea, and it shows when the results come pouring through. That said, I have some crazy projects that I have built, I am looking for investors, we have competitors, but our competitors don't have me, I'm golden - please come and invest in me🙏🏽

Two Irishmen with no oil or gas experience. Got a Nigerian gas contract in 2010. Built nothing. Then sued Nigeria for breaking the deal. Won $6.6 billion in a secret London court. Interest was adding $1.3 million every single day. Total bill hit $11 billion. That is 10 times Nigeria’s health budget. The woman who signed the contract on Nigeria’s behalf? She was promised a cut of the $11 billion. Not one Nigerian official in jail. Omo 💔😭 🇳🇬

I keep repeating this. The biggest disservice Western culture did to Africans was to sell individualism and resilience as the solution, while the real hack behind the scenes for them was community. It was what we always had, but we gave it away. I need to write a thread on this.

The one I prefer the most is “Fuck You Connections.” You will always be fine and not be without money or income because your crew has got your back and you also have theirs. That is also what leads to collective “Fuck You Wealth” and power.

I have probably shared the first image half a dozen times here and the reason I do so is that it is profoundly true. I was trying to do something with AI in the last couple of days and realized how severely limited it was when it came to creativity. AI is stolen knowledge but you still have to be a great artist to be able to use accumulated creativity and stolen ideas well. What is missing in AI is the spark that is within all of us. We can make something from nothing but AI needs something to give us more in a new way. I am reading the second book all over again as I hit the limitations of LLMs. Something that came up to my mind yesterday was that the compounding function of AI can only be useful to us when we freely share our creations from it to get new standards. This was what the Open Source movement did for tech and why we made great progress. Siloed development can only bring temporary advantage and more attrition.

It is a grave injustice to discuss the economic developments of Singapore, Rwanda, or South Korea and downplay the roles of Lee Kuan Yew, Paul Kagame, or Park Chung-hee. We don't have such transformational leaders; we mostly have thieves masquerading as leaders. In spaces where we've seen transformational leadership, we have also seen transformational growth. Like Chinua Achebe famously wrote: "The trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of leadership. There is nothing basically wrong with the Nigerian character. There is nothing wrong with the Nigerian land or climate or water or air or anything else. The Nigerian problem is the unwillingness or inability of its leaders to rise to the responsibility, to the challenge of personal example which are the hallmarks of true leadership." Without a doubt, we, the citizens, have a critical role to play, but leadership should never be sidestepped.

Policy won't build Nigeria. Infrastructure won't save us. Mindset will. Kola Adesina, Executive Director, Sahara Group says Africa's $1.5 trillion opportunity belongs to those who stop waiting for the government and start owning the problem.

"Don't depend on the government for help before you build your business, be innovative and hardworking" - By Nigerians who capitalized heavily on government connections to build their business. I am tired, boss.

But in a global town square, aren't people from everywhere allowed to fan people from everywhere? It's the square, we should all be in the open, engage in the open and not be restricted to our rooms, I'd suppose?
Nikita Bier@nikitabier

@aaronp613 Precisely. Fewer Ivanka Trump Fan accounts based in Nigeria—and more Nigerians sharing their thoughts about Nigeria.

Soldiers accompanied MC Oluomo to take over the national secretariat of the NURTW in defiance of a court judgement sacking him? Is this the country that we want to bestow on our children?

As much as this is a funny interaction to read, the essence of the interaction falls into the realms of the legal jurisprudence postulated by Oputa, JSC (as he then was). The confusion raises the question - where is the justice for the society as justice is not a one way traffic or a two way traffic but indeed a three way traffic. Onome as a member of the society doesn't believe and feel that the society has gotten justice, how then is the society going to get justice for this heinous act against it? What will assuage Onome and everyone else who feel gored by the story?

Most of us grew up not knowing City we're our rivals, we had beefs with Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea fans long before we ever considered City a rival. They were just noisy neighbours who didn't mean much. So forgive me if I have some affinity to the 'Manchester' in their name😂 A City United❤️🩵
͏͏͏𝐉𝐚𝐲 ⌖@cagiago_

The most embarrassing tonight isn’t even us losing 2-0, it’s United fans who are City’s biggest local rivals celebrating as if they’ve won the Carabao Cup too, what a sad sad institution and mentally disturbed fans

Dear Arsenal fans, Hi👋 I know you expected much from your club and players today, well, as it happens, you're not just it. You might get to celebrate at the end of the season but that's also to be seen. Nurse your fake wounds, you'll be fine, you're not new to this near success syndrome. See y'all soon, Bottlers😂✌️

Remember that for anyone to check that your work was written by AI using AI, they will have to feed your original text into AI, and that text entered into AI models can become part of the training data. So these weird vigilantes are in fact only part of the problem. I think writers need to start pushing pack by clearly demanding that their work not be fed into AI checkers without their permission. If you make a submission to a publisher or organisation you can say: I do not give permission for my work, in part or in full to be fed into any AI model, whether for the purpose of analysis, fact checking or AI-use detection. Because if you want to become a virtue signalling anti-AI vigilante you do not get to use AI as your cudgel.

Do not use AI. I will use AI to check if you used AI, then I will post the results of my use of AI to discover your use of AI and shame you for it. What utter stupidity.

I’ve stopped worrying about AI detectors these days after losing several opportunities to feedback like, “Your work was flagged as AI-generated.” I write what I want to write, the way I was taught to write. If you read my work and fixate on what an AI detector says (rather than the substance), bravo 👏 that’s your choice. I’m no longer bothered. Where I've had the opportunity to review people's work, I invite them to a conversation and we talk about the contents of the work. It's easy to pick if someone knows (not read) what they said they wrote when you speak to them.
Paul Spicker@PSpicker

I tested something I'd written myself: my first academic article, published 45 years ago. It came in at 77% AI-generated.
