#DRDO is working on a highly precise, ultra-small atomic clock employing coherent population trapping for navigation in GNSS-denied regions. It is the most accurate timekeeping device known, using the vibrations of atoms (usually cesium-133 or rubidium) as its timekeeping element instead of mechanical parts or electronic oscillators. Atoms vibrate at extremely consistent frequencies...i.e. a cesium-133 atom oscillates exactly 9,192,631,770 times per second. #AtomicClocks measure this oscillation using a microwave signal tuned to match the atom's natural frequency. This is used to define the second in the International System of Units.
