Her issue is not wanting to be in a car riding when a plane is quicker. Her solution prevented him from going against his principles, his made her uncomfortable and changed all the plans. Not fair

Changing the entire destination of a vacation and still getting there in a way that your partner does not want is not a compromise. The only thing she did wrong was not include him in the decision to purchase the tickets

Now if they had a joint account it would be different, as she would have spent both their money, but she spent hers only.

His suggestion was not a compromise because he expected her to bend to everything he wanted and none of what she did. He said “it’s a waste of money” TO HIM. So he changed the location, not what she wanted, and still wanted to drive.
