@VinoNStrosGal 😭facts.
I just made a "resume" about a new problem that I have that has some big bright minds so confused.
It's never easy, is it?

If you’re in the Ehlers-Danlos or Marfan community, you already know what a “zebra” means.
Tell me this wouldn’t shake you, even for a moment.
After multiple ER visits, I was diagnosed with a 4.5 cm symptomatic Tarlov cyst at S1–S2, with sacral bone remodeling, and went into my appointment yesterday prepared to discuss next steps with my newly assigned spinal surgeon.
After pulling up the imaging and going through various slices, he turned around, looked me straight in the eyes, and said:
“This is not a Tarlov cyst.”
I wasn’t going to post this yet.
I wanted answers first. Certainty.
But the reality is, those gaps between imaging and answers,
that’s where patients live. And it messes with your mind.
So I’m sharing this with my chronic illness and chronic pain community because awareness matters, and so does perspective.
As we went through the slices together, everything shifted in a matter of minutes.
He then told me:
“You have a mass in your pelvis.”
He called it a zebra, something rare, less than 1%.
Hearing that in real time, after being told something completely different,
there’s no way to fully prepare for that moment.
He moved quickly.
Urgent referrals. Calls to colleagues.
“Evaluate pelvic mass.”
I now have a plan in motion.
To be very clear,
I am not asking for a diagnosis here.
But I am open to thoughtful, professional perspectives, especially from radiology, surgery, or pelvic specialists who may come across this.
Not to replace care.
Not to override my team.
Just more eyes, more context, while I navigate this.
Because if you’ve been here before, you know,
waiting is its own kind of weight.
And if sharing this helps even one person advocate for themselves sooner,
then it’s worth it.
🚨The three images are included for context:
Image 1, axial T2 view of the sacrum and pelvis
Image 2, closer view of the left sacral region, where the arrows are pointing to the area in question near S1–S2
Image 3, sagittal view including the bladder, included because that relationship was noted as significant during my consult

@VinoNStrosGal Understand this fully. I have one that checks all those boxes, too! Here she was with me at my infusion center on Monday.
Just pure unconditional love. (Her name is Pearl 🥰)

@DigitalDiva ♥️Thank you…She legit has become the best thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life…reason being, she comforts me in my darkest moments and never leaves my side.
That kind of unconditional love won’t ever be found in another human being.

i don’t care what’s on your timeline right now, this is the only thing that matters for a minute 🤍
this is Effie, my second-generation goldendoodle, turning two in June… currently draped across my knee like a living teddy bear who decided personal space is optional
look at her paws… completely relaxed, folded forward like she trusts the moment so much she doesn’t even hold tension.
i’m sitting here playing with them and she won’t even pull away. that kind of trust? you can’t fake it
and that white pillow at the top of the bed?
that’s not decoration… that’s hers
we’ve got a whole nighttime ritual
around 9, it’s bedtime, for both of us. i take her out one last time, then she comes back in and walks up her little staircase onto the bed, no jumping, just routine like she owns the place
i pull her pillow into place, look at her, and say “night night”
and she knows
head down on the pillow, front paws tucked up like a little kid getting tucked in, just waiting
i lay a blanket over her, she looks up at me, i kiss her forehead… and she gives me a tiny lick on the nose back like it’s part of the agreement
lights out. every night
and yes, she drinks her water out of a human dixie cup, because apparently that’s just who she is
people say “ride or die” like it’s a phrase
but this little girl lives it
no matter what kind of day i’m having, she meets me right here, soft, steady, and all in
and honestly… that kind of love?
it changes everything 🥰

@VinoNStrosGal This one's a little raw as it happened last week...after showing my med list...
<laughter>
Turns to his fellow and says she has to see this...
"Well now we know why the pharmaceutical industry is still in business!"

@ThePOTSPostman I am so very much with you. As we all do, have stories for days...

Some of you doctors on here are way too comfortable mocking hEDS, POTS, LC and MCAS patients.
You’re not being skeptical.
You’re being lazy.
It takes zero effort to dismiss a condition you don’t understand.
It takes actual work to learn it.
These conditions have diagnostic criteria.
They’re in the literature.
They’re recognized across specialties.
Yet somehow, somehow your takeaway is “everyone’s faking it.”
Or “It must be anxiety.”
We didn’t invent these illnesses. Medicine did.
Researches did.
Patients aren’t the problem.
Loud, dismissive, confidently behind doctors are.
You’re the weak link in the system that’s moving on without you.

Hey @AnthemBCBS @MountSinaiNYC: please be adults. It's high time - you may think you're helping your patients, but you aren't. We're the ones struggling due to your contract bickering. It's time to do this.

He is risen.
To my chronic pain and chronic illness community, those walking this road with me.
For those who share my faith, and for those who don’t but are here alongside me,
I know this day can feel complicated.
For many of us, our bodies don’t rise with us.
Some of us are still in the same bed, the same pain, the same fight.
So today, I’m not talking about standing up.
I’m not talking about healing timelines or miracle recoveries.
I’m talking about something quieter.
A kind of rising the world doesn’t always see.
