DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Durham City Council members selected four finalists to consider for the vacant Ward 3 seat. The final four are Amanda Borer, Chelsea Cook, Sheila Huggins and Chastan Swain. The final selection was made during Thursday's afternoon work session.

Sixty-five people attended Durham CAN Metro Council on September 21 at Trinity Ave. Presbyterian Church and 70 attended the October 19 Metro Council meeting at ERUUF. The next Metro Council meeting will be Thursday, Nov 16, from 6 to 7:30 PM at Beth El Synagogue, 1004 Watts St.

On Sunday, October 15, Durham CAN and the Congress of Latino Organizations, hosted over 460 delegates to hear from all eight candidates for Durham Mayor and City Council. CAN and the Latino Congress procured commitments from all of the candidates to support CAN initiatives.

*County Commission Action POSTPONED* Due to a couple last minute shifts in our strategic analysis, tonight's County Commission Action is postponed, and we will NOT be gathering downtown or participating in the Commissioners' Meeting.

Join us on Monday evening for a County Commission Action at 7 PM. Partnering with Urban Ministries, we will be pushing for funding that will assist UMD and their partners in planning and launching a downtown day shelter that would serve our unsheltered community. See you there!
