Environmental risk factors – linked to 1 in 5 cardiovascular deaths worldwide 2. Obesity - radically impacts multiple organs and requires a holistic approach 3. An ageing society - 90% of the diseases we deal with are age dependent Tom Luscher said; “We need a coordinated plan to deal with these, and thanks to the EU Safe Hearts Plan, we now have one. As a society we are proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to that plan and are here with many of our 58 National Cardiac Societies to see how we can turn that plan into action.”

🫀 Imaging for asymptomatic coronary artery disease: are we aligned with the guidelines? An updated systematic review published in European Heart Journal – Imaging Methods and Practice examines how current clinical practice guidelines approach the use of cardiovascular imaging in the detection of asymptomatic coronary artery disease (CAD). Across international recommendations, variability remains in: • Risk thresholds for imaging • Preferred first-line modalities • The role of CAC scoring vs functional imaging • Use of CT coronary angiography in primary prevention As imaging capabilities continue to advance, the challenge is no longer whether we can detect subclinical disease — but when, in whom, and with which modality this translates into meaningful risk modification. Harmonisation of imaging-based prevention strategies remains a key priority — particularly as we move towards earlier identification of at-risk individuals before clinical events occur.
