It's the same with musicians. I’ve been playing bass professionally since I was 19, and it’s hilarious how those most eager to define a “real” pro (and how to be one) are guaranteed to be found parked in their local bar and/or wedding circuits. Never ceases to amuse me. A little self-awareness goes a long way. Like, in lit, I'm the n00b. So, when I'm looking for advice I look to people with measurable accomplishments in that world.
