Earlier this month, the far right set fire to hotels housing asylum seekers. Today, the government announced a "major surge" in deportations and promised to re-open detention centres. The government could have stood up to the far right. Instead, it pandered to them.

Here is a sign of the weakness of the "left" in the UK. Fittingly, it's Stand Up to Racism intervening in the speech of an invited speaker at an anti-fascist rally to insist that she should not make a speech about Palestine. Her megaphone is switched off and she is told "this is not a Palestine demo". The crowd react with a chant of "Let her speak". And SUTR have to relent. Disgraceful. Stand Up To Racism has a history of kowtowing to Zionists, as the long struggle in Scotland, over allowing open supporters of genocide to take part in an annual anti-racist march, shows. But the weakness goes further back to the history of Unite Against Fascism, Rock Against Racism and the Anti-Nazi League. We need to deal with the question of Zionism now. there can be no excuses. Zionism is racism. There is no way out of this. It is no use saying we should collaborate with the slightly nicer racists, who want to genocide the Palestinians more slowly. #DismantleZionism

@greenbenali I used to be in their old party before they rebranded, they always represented a particularly reactionary and anti-trans section of the communist movement and now only have a decent stance on Palestine. Your party might have its issues but you aren’t bigots

I'm sorry, but whose idea was it to cast insane anti-trans actor J@mes Dreyfus in 'House of the Dragon' when you have a non-binary leading actor? That should be a basic duty-of-care thing. You don't cast someone in a show who wishes harm on their other cast members.
