No, Childress built the best Vikings team there’s ever been. You can say Favre or whatever but he only wanted to come here because that was a Super Bowl roster and he was the last piece. The players may have hated Childress but he won. He also at least gave his young QB draft pick a chance to be the starter. O’Connell hasn’t won anything and apparently has zero patience to let his QB develop

Either KO needs to be fired or the owners telling him to give up on JJ after 10 games need to be fired. Kyler and Wentz are 100% not winning you a Super Bowl. JJ’s chances of developing into a HOF, Super Bowl QB are higher than zero. The packers are going to end up with JJ and he’ll Be tormenting us for the next 15 years, long after O’Connell has been fired.

2023 -- QB2 for Matthew Stafford (Nov-Jan)
2024 -- QB2 for Patrick Mahomes
2025 -- QB2 turned starter for 5 games in MN. Threw for 300+ twice. Posted a slightly below average passer rating.

Never underestimate the Vikings’ desire to be average at all costs, including giving up on the potential that McCarthy could be a great QB in year 2 or 1-2 years from now. The Wilfs are the worst owners in sports. I lived through the Teddy 2015 era where they almost beat the Super Bowl champs on the road. I DO NOT CARE about Wentz’s 300-yard passing games. Give me a winner who makes the clutch throws every time over the guy who rolls up stats in losing efforts.

It’s a higher percentage chance when you have two guys ahead of him who have not been able to play 17 games due to injury. It just happened last season. One game can be the difference between playoffs and watching. It can be the difference between the #1 seed and the #5 seed like 2024. One extra win in 2000, 2009, 2017 and the Vikings are playing at home in 3 NFC title games. I like the move if it means keeping all 3 guys, not a fan of it if you’re going to trade JJ for pennies on the dollar.
