Honestly, I’m thinking a lot of people are getting really burnt out on VTubers—in fact, I think we’re already seeing it happen
There’s not a whole lot of innovation, and there’s not much room to actually be unique anymore. Instead there’s a ton of drama, pornography, extremely lustful energy from tons of creators, masking, virtue signalling, misandry, and a complete lack of authenticity and honesty. Everyone’s so afraid to be real that the whole space feels soulless and meaningless. You can’t grow as a person here when so many are terrified to lead, to offer real wisdom, or to actually love and connect. And the more desperate things get, the harder people double down on the porn and drama
In so many ways it’s just incredibly shallow and kind of empty. We hide our thoughts, our experiences, and our wisdom because we’re scared of losing an audience or making enemies. All anyone seems to care about is getting as big as possible, so they sacrifice authenticity, they sacrifice friends that others dislike, and they sacrifice their morals and integrity
Everyone’s at each other’s throats constantly, like some huge virtue war—comparing how much more virtuous they are while doing absolutely nothing for anyone. Constant ego stroking and acting holier-than-thou over and over and over again… while in the next breath saying the most fucked up, vile shit ever because it gets clicks and it’s “politically correct” to the space 🤦♂️
It’s honestly just… boring. And exhausting
I’d much rather watch someone who’s actually honest—flaws and all—but still fighting through them. Someone who’s inspiring people to become their best selves because they’re on that journey too. People who stand up for what they believe in with honour, integrity, and real love in their heart. Most people want to support creators who actually make their lives or the world better in some way
Whatever the VTubing culture became in the West… it almost completely lost the plot
It’s shallow, and in a lot of ways meaningless to people’s lives. At best, a lot of it does nothing for anyone
Don’t get me wrong—there are incredibly talented and amazing people I’ve met on this journey whom I love and adore dearly, and I know there are so many other incredible creators as well. But largely… this space just isn’t the greatest, and I’m fairly certain we all know it
