Anthony Mveyange, PhD says exploring the complexities of systems thinking improves program outcomes effectively 1️⃣ Recognizing feedback loops allows policymakers and citizens to anticipate unintended consequences and improve intervention design 2️⃣ Considering long-term effects of policies ensures sustainable outcomes and reduces risks associated with short-term decisions. 3️⃣ Navigating interdependencies among social, economic, and political factors is essential for effective policy-making and impactful interventions. #CSOWeek2025 #WikiYaAzaki2025

In systems thinking, the Iceberg Model is a tool to encourage critical thinking, it helps us understand how underlying structures and mental models shape patterns of behavior. We must ask ourselves; What are our core beliefs about civil society? & Which beliefs or assumptions keep the current system in place. These mental models influence how structures are designed and how they function. If we want meaningful change, we must go beyond surface-level events and explore the beliefs that sustain the system itself. #CSOWeek2025

How do we collaborate? Do we collaborate & co create with voices of communities ? or is our projects driven by the voices of the elite? Involving diverse stakeholders in the systems thinking process boosts collective insights and strengthens collaborative problem-solving. #CSOWeek2025 #WikiYaAzaki2025

How many have read OECD DAC report ? Is it a trend that has been there for the past few years? Funding was already declining. How many organizations have endowment funds? How many of organizations have resources and reserves to operate for 1 year without donor support? Inabidi tuwe na mikakati ya baadae. Systems thinking allows organizations to plan for the future. Features of Systems Thinking 1. Feedback loops 2. Interconnectedness 3. Long term view As you implement interventions, you will inevitably receive either positive or negative feedback. Feedback loops are valuable. A system that doesnt accept feedback fails. Systems thinking quips organizations to address the emerging challenges in their ecosystem effectively and adapt to dynamic changes in the development world. -Anthony Mveyange, PhD

#CSOWeek2025 Systems thinking is a perspective of seeing and understanding systems as wholes rather than as collections of parts. Events are seen in the larger context of a pattern that is unfolding over time. Do you have a futuristic way of thinking? 5 to 10 years?

#CSOWeek2025 Traditional thinking is thinking about cause and effect relationship. Systems thinking is about thinking holistically not linear in a traditional way. With systems thinking you are able to anticipate the future. Dr. Anthony Mveyange #WikiYaAzaki2025
