BREAKING NEWS: Farnborough Football Club Pitch Officially Designated as a Protected Wetland! In a surprising and rather unusual turn of events, the pitch at Farnborough Football Club has been officially designated as a "protected wetland" by the Environment Agency, effective immediately. The decision comes after a thorough environmental assessment found that the pitch supports a unique ecosystem of native waterfowl, rare plants, and "exceptionally soggy" conditions that could be crucial to maintaining local biodiversity. "We've always known the pitch had a certain 'wetland charm,' at certain times of the year but we didn’t realise the ecological significance until now," said the Club's Chairman, Simon Gardener. Experts say the turf’s ability to turn into a quagmire after even the lightest rainfall makes it a prime habitat for rare species, including the elusive "Mud Duck," which was thought to be extinct in the area. In an effort to protect this delicate wetland players will be forced to play in special football “Wellington Boots”.
