Yesterday, the @EuroFilmAcademy revealed the nominees for the main categories of the 37th European Film Awards. Among them are also nominations for Prix FIPRESCI.

Jury members: Louise Dumas (France), Mariam Schaghaghi (Germany), Thor Aaberg (Norway), Mihai Fulger (Romania), Sonya Vseliubska (Ukraine), Štepánka Ištvánková (Czech Republic).

At the 58th @KVIFF, the #FIPRESCIPrize for best film in the Crystal Globe Competition went to Loveable by Lilja Ingolfsdottir (Norway). The winning film in Proxima Competition was Night Has Come by Paolo Tizón (Peru, Spain, Mexico).

At @visionsdureel, the #FIPRESCIPrize has been awarded to Les Miennes (2024, Belgium, France) by Samira El Mouzghibati. Our Jury members: Calin Boto (Romania), Petra Meterc (Slovenia), Samer Angelone (Switzerland).

In Encounters, we have awarded Sleep with Your Eyes Open by Nele Wohlatz, "a mesmerizing contemplation on hyper-globalization. Exploring the convulsion of migrant stories coming together, the charismatic protagonist mirrors the lives of nomadic workers."

The Prize in the Forum section went to The Human Hibernation by Anna Cornudella Castro. "In this brave film shot in challenging surroundings, there are profound reflections on life, nature, family and humankind‘s place in the world."

In the Panorama section, the award has been presented to Faruk by Aslı Özge, which "deeply and authentically illuminates global themes through personal stories of aging and change."

At the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), the International Federation of Film Critics, presented four prizes for one film each from the International Competition and the Panorama, Forum and Encounters sections.

In the International Competition, the Prize went to My Favourite Cake by Maryam Moghaddam & Behtash Sanaeeha, "a disarming love story between two lonely elderly people, set in a melancholic atmosphere in today’s Iranian society, told with humor and empathy."

At the 2024 @IFFR, the #FIPRESCIPrize has been awarded to "Kiss Wagon" by Midhun Murali (India, 2024). Jurz members: Ela Bittencourt (Brazil), Antonis Lagarias (France), Darta Cerina (Latvia), Panagiotis Kotzathanasis (Greece), Ronald Rovers (The Netherlands).

At the 24th @tromsofilmfest, the #FIPRESCIPrize has been awarded to Riceboy Sleeps. (Canada, 2022) by Anthony Shim. “With sensitivity and tenderness, our winning film employs a story of mother and child to depict how immigrants find their way in a new country."

Best actress: Leonie Benesch in the film "The Teacher's Lounge" (Germany, 2023) by Ilker Çatak: "As a teacher who finds herself overwhelmed, she turns in a tightly controlled performance that propels the narrative forward and dares to speak volumes about the world we exist in."

Best actor: Mads Mikkelsen in the film "The Promised Land" (Denmark, 2023) by Nikolaj Arcel: "Transcending centuries, he steps right out of his 18th century costume and into the heart of the viewer."

At the @PSFilmFest, our Jury presented a special #FIPRESCIPrize for the Best Foreign Language Film of 2023 + Best Screenplay and two best performances. Our Jury: by Steffen Moestrup (Denmark), Wilfred Okiche (Nigeria), Marriska Fernandes (Canada).
