Nation-states require lies, mythologizing, genocide, etc. That's why I'm glad that Iran, despite all its problems, is a real country. We never had to invent history or genocide/deport a people to create Iran. Israel, Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, etc, cannot say that.

It’s crazy how much Arab-phobia, double standards and inferiority complexes show up. When it’s Iran, we call it “Persian” When it’s Turkey, we call it “Ottoman” But when it’s Arab, suddenly people avoid the word “Arab” and instead say “Islamic”? Neglecting any Arab contribution.
