In early January, I was surprised to learn about certain investigations following news reports regarding the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA) and Tourprodenter LLC. In my capacity as founder and CEO of Socios.com, which has contractual relations with AFA, I published initial reactions to said news on my personal social networks. These comments were made in the interest of upholding Socios.com’s strict adherence to global compliance, ethics, our fan token holders’ best interest as a priority, and antimoney laundering regulations, however these reactions were made prematurely assuming the veracity of such news. The aforementioned facts gave rise to certain correspondence with AFA that, within the framework of the contractual good faith to which Socios.com and AFA were bound, provided us with the required guarantees of integrity the payments made by Socios.com to AFA's collection agents and confirmed the legality of the appointment of Tourprodenter LLC. We have since received new comfort letters from AFA and Tourprodenter LLC, affirming full compliance with the rules of ethics, guarantees of integrity, and prohibition of diversion of funds or “kickbacks” stipulated in the current commitments. Based upon the formal comfort letters now in our possession, I am putting my initial reactions behind me and offer my apologies to AFA for my meddling in their governance. Socios.com's mission has always been the protection of football fans worldwide, and we remain committed to our partnership with AFA under the highest standards of transparency and compliance.
