I'll never forget a lovely Polish Amazon delivery man saying, as he handed me supplies that had been sent from my wishlist, "More kindness for you."
And that's just what it is, when someone sends items or donates towards the cost of medicines - it's kindness in its purest form: an act of love that expects no reciprocation.❤️
Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, all those who help keep this little hospital running, and who hearten and energise me with their kind words of encouragement.
The supplies with notes are from Heather C, Mark, Amanda K, Victoria N, Rae D, Amanda M, cmb one, JoAnne, Mary M, Caroline H, Lorraine F, DT plc, Ray & Sue H, Amy C, Teia L, Kay W, Clive, Webbsixty6, Roberty B, Linda F, Christopher P, Laura C, Rebecca W, Jacqueline and in memory of her lovely dad Maurice Whitfield.
Here's a smile to start your weekend with:
A little family of orphaned babies being transitioned from formula and introduced to liquidised solid food.
Self anointing is something hedgehogs do when meeting a strange new smell they think is important and they want to remember.
They lick the new substance, create a saliva froth with it in their mouths, and then spread that all over their body.
And yes, it's fun watching and no, it's not fun cleaning them up afterwards.😁

Borrowed from Brian Romero on Facebook:
If you just got a bad report from the doctor, this is for you. If you heard words that shook you, if fear tried to rush in, if your mind started going to the worst-case scenario, you are not alone. That moment is real. But through the finished work of Jesus Christ, that report is not the final word over your life. God still has the final say.
It is normal for your mind to react. To think about what it means, what could happen, and how things might change. But even in that moment, there is a deeper truth that does not move. “Let God be true though every one were a liar” (Romans 3:4). What God says about you stands above every report, every opinion, and every diagnosis.
A doctor’s report can tell you what is happening in your body, but it cannot tell you what God has already finished for you. Jesus did not go to the cross partially. He went completely. “Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows” (Isaiah 53:4). That means what you are facing is not something you are carrying alone. Jesus has already stepped into it.
Fear will try to take over quickly. It will try to convince you that this is the end or that things are out of control. But your life has never been in the hands of a report. It has always been in the hands of God. “In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind” (Job 12:10). Your life is still held by Him.
The finished work of Jesus means your peace is not based on what you just heard. It is based on who He is for you. “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you” (Psalm 56:3). Fear may try to show up, but it does not have to take over. You can trust Him right in the middle of it.
Even if the situation feels serious, God is not limited by it. Nothing is too hard for Him. “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27). What feels impossible to you is not impossible for Him.
This does not mean you ignore what the doctor said. It means you do not let it define your outcome. You can listen, take steps, and still trust God at the same time. Your hope is not in what you heard. Your hope is in who Jesus is.
The cross did not just deal with your future. It speaks into your life right now. “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us” (Galatians 3:13). That means what tries to come against your life does not have the final authority. Jesus already took your place.
Even in this moment, God is not distant from you. He is near. He is present. He is with you. “The Lord is near to all who call on him” (Psalm 145:18). You are not walking through this alone.
Through the finished work of Jesus Christ, that report is not the end of your story. God has the final word. And His word over your life is not fear, not defeat, but life, hope, and restoration.

(Also… this is her attempting to hit the elevator button 😂)
Thank you for continuing to carry us through this 🤍

Today we have to travel to Dublin and stay overnight because Katie’s appointment in Cappagh is on Monday at 7am.
Katie has to have an MRI arthrogram, which in simple terms is an MRI with dye injected into her hip. The heartbreaking part is that we already know the damage. Dr Paley at the Paley Institute has already confirmed that Katie’s hip is 60% dysplastic and that she has a labral tear in her hip socket.
So this journey is not about answers we do not already have. It feels like another painful trip, another hurdle, and another box being ticked while Katie continues to suffer.
Katie has to travel again in pain when there are perfectly good hospitals in Cork. If she had been operated on when she was 4, she would not be suffering the way she is now at 19. That is the part that breaks me. The years that should have helped her have instead led to more pain, more damage, and more heartbreak.
And still we keep going. Still we keep fighting. Because we truly believe Dr Paley is the surgeon who can do the right surgery for Katie, and our only hope of getting her to him in Florida is through the kindness of the people of Ireland and beyond.
We are only able to make this journey because of the help of so many truck drivers, and I will never forget that kindness. Today we travel, we stay over, and on Monday morning my daughter faces yet another appointment that no 19-year-old should have to endure.
As her mam, all I want is to see her out of pain. All I want is the chance for her to have the future she deserves.
Please keep Katie in your thoughts over the next two days. And please keep sharing her story. Every share, every donation, and every act of kindness is helping us keep going.

Goodbye my little friend. My male Magpie has been missing since yesterday. Today I found him dead in the garden. He’s been visiting me twice a day for seven years. Not just for food, but also to just chat. Such a beautiful bird who became close. I’ll miss him so much 💙

@carrotcottagerr @thames_pilgrim Ah nooo the wee soul 💔💔💔

@Figglefig That sounds like what dr Sophie said today. Thank you 🙏

So sorry to keep you all waiting!
Chip has made it through surgery. We have not long got home.
The mass was (I hope this is the right word) a Seroma from what appears to be a trauma. Her intestine was also ruptured 😢
Timing coincides with changing their environment so we are very sure she’s had an accident when running around with the group 😢
I don’t know what the procedure is called but dr Sophie has had to separate and rejoin the intestinal tract.
Chip is still in a critical state needing a higher level of treatment than I can give here. The absolute, most wonderful Sophie Jenkins @originvetclinic has taken Chip home with her, to her house so that she can personally provide that 24hr care.
I cannot express in words just how grateful we are to have so many wonderful people supporting us in saving rabbits. This community is truly magnificent, dr Sophie is beautiful soul, @Emzi_FitzG is a blessing as she has managed the rescue so we could be there with Chip.
Every single person that has liked, shared, donated or left a supportive comment is a wonderful human, and it’s an absolute honour to be in a community with you.
Dr Sophie will update when she can and I will post as soon as I know ❤️❤️
Today we gave Chip a chance. Thank you for seeing her life as having value. ❤️
