In my experience, and my circle of interests--not saying this is universal--that has reversed recently. All the interesting discussions are on Mastodon. My Twitter feed is dead, and half the posts I do see are meta commentary on Twitter.

They said Mastodon would never take off because of the network effect--everyone's on Twitter because everyone else is on Twitter. A new network won't take off because with few people on it, it'll be boring, which will discourage people from using it.

This. I don't think "web3" is the future, but even if it is, *I don't want to live in that future*. That, I think, is the disconnect between Web3 people and Free Software people.
