Jesus was not forsaken by the Father on the cross. The Trinity cannot be divided. If the Father abandoned the Son, the Godhead fractured, and you have no salvation.

@TheJollyBrawler Read in context, it's pretty apparent he's talking about how things "strike people today." It's not representing his own opinion, but how others think. Don't fall for this kind of sinister misrepresentation.

@ScottAniol In his humanity, the Person of Jesus experienced full forsakenness. Without that, there is no atonement. That is the Reformed tradition and should be affirmed boldly.

Anyone who thinks the Father forsook the Son because Jesus quoted Psalm 22:1 on the cross hasn’t considered the rest of the psalm. God didn’t forsake David, and God didn’t forsake his Son.

Ok, I’ve had it. I feel like I’m living in bizarro world, and this is why the NBA MVP is now meaningless. Last night Luka Doncic became the first player in NBA history to put up a stat line of - 40+ Points, 10+ Assists, 5+ Rebounds, 5+ Threes, and 0 Turnovers So today the media ignores that, and an MVP voter (Chris Broussard) proclaims that Shai doesn’t have to campaign for the MVP award, because he is “cool”. However, Luka Doncic, because he isn’t “cool” dropped in ranking, by not begging for the award. The reason?? Because an activist MVP voter that writes for the NBA, moved Wembanyama to #1 on his list, after campaigning for the award. Not for his play, but because of an embarrassing speech he gave to the media. So we ignore the historic month that Luka Doncic just had to make the MVP race about THIS. By the way, what makes Shai so “cool” @Chris_Broussard that he’s exempt from your imaginary benchmark?? Is it because he’s a white European?? If that’s the case, at least have the guts to say it. They’re admitting right in front of your face that it doesn’t matter what Luka Doncic does on the court, they will find any dumb reason to not vote for him, then laugh about it on TV. The Trinity was not ruptured at the cross. Father, Son, and Spirit were united in the act of atonement. Keeping this in view guards against many theological errors!

@jwsherrod @TomHicks2LCF I find the forum too limiting for detailed discussions, especially when the questions have been answered well at length, with biblical interaction. If the questions are sincere, those are good sources for answers.

@jwsherrod @TomHicks2LCF Read John Murray's Free Offer of the Gospel. Calvinists (except Hyper-Calvinists) affirm that God desires all men would be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.

This means that to the extent that a blacksmith or plumber needs any divine words for his life, the Scriptures are all of the divine words that he will ever expect to receive in how he can apply God's revelation to his career.

Let's briefly look at Frame here. Richard did say that he had read someone who quoted Frame, and we know this is a common misunderstanding. 🧵

2/ What we see of people now includes the remnants of God's common and restraining grace. Once that grace is removed, what will be left will be unimaginably offensive. And God's judgment will be an everlasting testimony to his justice. Rom.9:22.

1/ It is hard to imagine people we know suffering for eternity in hell. But we have to remember that who they are in eternity is not what we see of them now.
