If we're talking worldwide, the WHO puts the global death toll from drugs last year at 600,000 — 3 million if you include alcohol. On the most generous possible interpretation, he's off by a factor of 100. The notion that 300 million people — nearly four per cent of the world population — could have died in one year from drugs alone is just ... Let's put it this way. The annual number of deaths worldwide from all causes is estimated at 60-70 million. But then, this is the guy who claims his tariffs have raised 8 trillion dollars, that the real unemployment rate under Joe Biden was 42 per cent etc etc etc.
