@areyoflight As one who voted remain I find these comments totally counterproductive. This actually shows the EU at it's worst when incompetence and bureaucracy leads to stress for members of friendly 3rd country nations . UK Canada etc.

Dear Brexiteers, this is what YOU voted for. 👀 You campaigned to leave. You won. You triggered Article 50. You got your blue passport. Now you’re a third country national on EU soil and you have to queue like one. Brexit means Brexit, right? FAFO 🇬🇧💀

Every serious person knows the triple lock is impossible to sustain and setting us on course for a nearly £200bn a year bill. And yet any suggestion of reality to the P&O cruise brigade unleashed entitled fury. Someone needs to stand up to these retirement communists.

@Eyeswideopen69 I voted remain but this level of incompetence sums up all the bad things about the EU . No friendly country be it Canada or UK should have people treated like this .

Nope. The EU is protecting its borders, and we are merely third country migrants. The consequences of leaving the club are simply catching up with us. It’s what the simpletons voted for — we just have to suck it up until sanity prevails and we rejoin.

Which way did you vote? It was on the ballot paper! bit.ly/4thLu8s Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union and face three hour passport queues, missed flights and more expense.

@andrewhesselden On what terms ? That was the weakness with the Brexit Referendum and with these polls would we get our own terms back or would we have to take on the Euro ?

63% of Brits would now vote to rejoin the EU. That’s not a marginal shift. That’s a country that’s changed its mind. The question isn’t “why talk about rejoining?” It’s: why are we still pretending this hasn’t happened? Source 👇 leftfootforward.org/2026/02/brits-…

@jemmm85517813 You have ignored my point about switching off wind turbines when demand is low and still paying for it. There have been no explosions from Hydrogen cars in the UK.

I would buy a hydrogen car if the refuelling stations existed. If the govt spent the tiniest fraction of EV subsidies on building them we could get going. I think people would switch to them far more quickly than to EVs as the refuelling times are the same as petrol. We would be energy self sufficient in no time. Like everything, with scale the costs will drop. We currently switch off wind turbines and pay the operators to do so when there is no demand. These could be diverted to create hydrogen instead. Likewise excess solar during the day. Far more sensible than building battery farms.

@hugorifkind Your right nothing has been shown as to why the government might make such a decision - now overturned by the courts to date - why do you think they made it (on the same basis suffragettes would have been terrorist organisation)?

I'm not sure why this is being so widely reposted when it is flatly untrue. I say this as someone who was and is opposed to the banning of P.A. but they were banned for what they did, not what they said. And I've seen zero evidence (or, until now, suggestion) that the Israeli govt demanded it.

We're cutting the cost of charge-point installation. It's never been cheaper and easier to own an electric vehicle. We're acting to support motorists as we see high and fluctuating prices at the pumps. thisismoney.co.uk/money/electric…

@londonHenryGB Oh I agree it's more bizarre at the upper rate but for a marginal rate to double around the point when wages are considered 'normal' perhaps has the greatest impact / injustice. A debatable point however .

@GhostFraser It’s deffo worse than that. Progressive tax is one thing 20% -> 40% But this is what it actually looks like 20% —> 40% -> 60% -> 45% Weird cliff edge, not good policy.

It was introduced in 2010 as a temporary measure. The threshold has NEVER risen. And still stands 16 years later. Any tax policy that makes people work less, not take a promotion, or force pension contributions is bad policy. Be done with it.

Total agreement. Many people seem to be unable to judge character. They appear to be unable to recognise diligence, resilience, compassion, wisdom, resolve and true service. I am so glad @Keir_Starmer is my prime minister.
Maggie Smith@MSmith58282

@DAaronovitch That is an absurd statement “No one likes him”. I DO LIKE SIR KEIR STARMER, OUR DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED PRIME MINISTER. I admire him for his diligence and competence and grit. For his ability to get on with the job with all the crap like yours that has been thrown at him.

@DavidMcGregorBN Because this massive monstority will take up 6.25M of agricultural land to provide energy for up to a small town of 180K people (approx 18 SqM Southend) . SO 1/3rd of inhabited space needs added for solar mega farms . London would need 200 SQ MILES .

We’re seeing the effects of Britain being overly reliant on international markets for gas and oil. This is essential infrastructure to make us more independent. Cheaper bills and true independence, how can you be against this?
The Telegraph@Telegraph

☀️ Ed Miliband has approved Britain’s biggest solar farm despite objections from nearby residents who likened it to Chernobyl. It will cover seven square miles of farmland in solar panels, an area 10 times greater than London’s Hyde Park. 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/…
