March 19 John “Bud” Palmer passed away in 2018 at the age of 91. Before the jump shot became the foundation of modern basketball, Bud Palmer helped introduce it to the game. He played professionally for the New York Knicks in the early years of the NBA and is widely credited as one of the pioneers who brought the jump shot into mainstream play. What feels routine in basketball today was once a radical change in how the game was played. Nearly every shot taken in basketball today traces back to that moment of innovation. Sports move forward because someone is willing to try something new. Today we remember Bud Palmer and the lasting mark he left on the game.

March 18, 1923 Andy Granatelli was born. Few people shaped American motorsports quite like Andy. Promoter, innovator, showman. He believed racing should be bold, fast, and unforgettable. From the famous STP turbine car at the Indianapolis 500 to decades of pushing the sport forward, Andy helped turn racing into something bigger than just competition. He made it an experience fans could feel. For many, memories of Indy, STP, and that iconic turbine car still come rushing back when his name is mentioned. Moments like that are why sports matter. They stay with us for a lifetime. Happy Birthday, Andy.

#WallpaperWednesday My dad loved cars. Didn’t matter if it was a rusted hot rod sitting on a dry lakebed or the newest machine that looked like it came from the future. If it had wheels and an engine, he was interested. Growing up, every drive turned into a story. Why this engine sounded different. Why that car mattered. Why speed meant freedom. Those rides ended a few years ago. But every time I see a car like this, I still hear him talking from the passenger seat. Some passions never leave us. Download this week’s wallpaper and take someone you love along for the ride.

#OTD in 2019 Rory McIlroy won The Players Championship by one stroke over Jim Furyk, earning a then-record $2.25 million first prize. The Players is often called golf’s “fifth major.” It is where the best players in the world show up knowing the margins are razor thin and every shot matters. Moments like this are why sports stay with us. A swing. A putt. A Sunday leaderboard that fans remember years later. At Eternal Fan, we believe those memories deserve a permanent home. Not just in highlight reels, but in the places where they happened. Because the moments fade. The memories shouldn’t.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day. In Boston, the color green has always meant a little more. It’s the color of a team that built a dynasty inside the old Boston Garden. The color of banners raised by legends like Red Auerbach and Bill Russell. And the color generations of fans proudly wear every season. Basketball history and Boston tradition have always gone hand in hand. Today feels like the perfect day to celebrate both. #StPatricksDay

For a long time, conversations about the end of life were something most people avoided. Now that mindset is beginning to shift. Across the world, small gatherings are popping up where people sit down over tea or coffee and specifically talk openly about life, legacy, and what matters most. No agenda. Just honest conversation. The idea is simple. When we become more comfortable talking about life’s final chapter, we tend to live the rest of the story with more intention. That shift is something we believe in. At Eternal Fan, we see this through the lens of sports. The teams, traditions, and moments that shape our lives do not stop mattering when the game ends. They become part of the legacy we leave behind. More families are starting to talk about how they want to be remembered. More fans are choosing meaningful ways to stay connected to the teams and places that meant the most to them. This is not about sadness. It is about memory. It is about belonging. It is about making sure the stories that defined our lives continue to live on. Sports have always brought people together. Now they are helping people talk about legacy too.

Some lessons are taught on a court at sunset. How to shoot. How to compete. How to carry yourself when you win and when you don’t. For many of us, basketball was never just a game. It was time with someone who mattered. And even when they are gone, the echoes stay.

#OTD Woody Hayes passed away in 1987. For decades, he was the face of Ohio State football. Five national championships. Thirteen Big Ten titles. A standard built on toughness and discipline. Woody Hayes didn’t just coach games. He built a culture that shaped generations of Buckeyes. Love him or debate him, his impact on college football is undeniable. Legacies like that don’t fade. They echo.

#OTD In 1994, Shawna Robinson made history at Atlanta Motor Speedway. She became the first woman to win a NASCAR pole in a major speedway race, earning the top starting spot in the Busch Series. No qualifiers. No asterisks. Just speed. Moments like this matter. Not because of headlines. But because they open doors and shift what people believe is possible. History was made in qualifying that day. Fans never forget where they were when something changes.

🏁 #WallpaperWednesday Atlanta. Wide open. No lifting. These Joey Gase Racing Chevrolets ripping the high line at Atlanta Motor Speedway feel like speed frozen in time. That clean white wrap. The black grille. The blur of banking behind it. It’s a reminder that every lap matters… and every fan watching from the stands carries their own story with them. Save it. Set it. Let it ride on your screen all week. Because race day energy should never really end. @J_G_Motorsports

🏀 March 1957. North Carolina vs. Kansas for the national championship. Triple overtime. 54–53. A perfect 32–0 season on the line. Kansas had Wilt Chamberlain in the paint. One of the most dominant players the game has ever seen. North Carolina had discipline. Patience. Composure. Three overtimes later, the Tar Heels walked off as champions. Some games decide a title. Others shape the history of the sport. This one did both. #TarHeels #KansasJayhawks #CollegeBasketball

🏁 Happy Birthday, Matt Kenseth. Champion. Closer. One of the smoothest to ever do it. From the 2003 Cup title to Daytona wins and 39 career victories, Matt built a career on consistency, discipline, and letting results do the talking. Some drivers were loud. Matt just showed up and delivered. Today we celebrate a career that gave fans countless Sundays to remember. #OTD

Some bonds are built in stadiums. Some are built on quiet Saturday mornings at the pitch. The love of the game becomes the language between a father and a son. And long after the final whistle, that connection still lives on. That is the power of being a fan.
