Honest Rosen assessment for Jets fans: He’s a good skater with a good shot. It’s a quick release and solid one timer release which is what makes him dangerous on the power play where he stacks most of his points in the AHL. Good in transition with his vision and shot. Understands where to get to for scoring chances on the ice to find holes in the defense. He doesn’t get around the net consistently enough for me for those “dirty” goals. Relies too much on perimeter shooting chances at times. Issues are in a heavy western conference are size. He’s not afraid to battle for pucks but gets knocked off them especially in the defensive zone. Not the most aware defensive player but I wouldn’t say “terrible.” Biggest issue and why he can’t stay in the NHL and it happens in the AHL too is he disappears at 5v5 far too much. To hit his ceiling he has to learn how to be more effective away from the puck and more impactful with it on his stick. A consistent opportunity in a bigger role in Winnipeg may unlock some of that.
