If you are a HS basketball player watching the tournament and think just playing AAU and doing skill work for the next 5 months without touching a weight 2-3 x a week is going to prepare you for this level of physicality, good luck!

FAILING TO HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE: - erodes your team's culture - undermines your team's standards - weakens your leadership credibility - frustrates people who do the right thing - destroys your team's chances of success IF YOU WANT TO WIN, YOU MUST HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE.

"Practicing hard is a choice. Watching extra film is a choice. Lifting weights, being coachable, and going to class are a choice. Your choices here are going to force me to either play you, or sit you on the bench. You’ll get exactly what you want." (Pat Summitt)

If your son is a pitcher trying to get recruited: Below 85 mph = D3/JUCO conversation 85-88 mph = D1 conversation begins 90+ mph = full scholarship territory The gap is bridgeable — but not through arm work alone. The research is clear: it starts with the legs and hips.

Pitchers: You’ve chosen to play the most mentally demanding position on the field. Not only do you have to deal with your own mistakes, failures and errors (and be able to move on within seconds), you have to manage your emotions after your teammates errors, umpires missed calls, the weather, poor pitching mound conditions and even sometimes pitching to a catcher who is struggling receiving the ball while maintaining mental clarity and focus on throwing the next pitch. It’s all part of the gig. You’ll never be able to get away from these things. Your weakness is complaining and blaming these things for your performance while your strength can be how you handle all of it with grace allowing you to be present in the moment and competitive with each pitch. No one is saying this is easy but understanding what comes with it will help you to better evaluate and prepare for your next opportunity.

PLAYERS: If you're the most talented player on your team, you should also be the HARDEST WORKER on the team. Lead by example. Be the standard. Your natural talent might not be transferable to your teammates but your energy, enthusiasm, and effort can definitely rub off on them.

Your best player isn’t the one who scores the most points. Your best player is the one who: - Shows up early. - Pushes everyone to work harder. - Leads when things go wrong. Because talent wins games, but leadership builds legacies.

One of the hardest things to teach in high school sports is the urgency of now. Kids don’t lack care. They lack perspective. They think there’s always another rep. Another practice. The best teams understand this early: Now is the opportunity. Make today your masterpiece.
