This is an example of how Catholics don’t have a clue about how Biblical Salvation works. If you have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, continuing to beg him to save you or have mercy on you shows a total lack of faith. Their focus is much more about His cruxifixction than His resurrectio.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:7-8, "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Jesus also said, "I am the vine, you are the branches", yet you don't claim to be wood. Jesus said He is a door, light, and shepherd, which everyone understands to be speaking metaphorically. But the RCC is fine believing that any priest can rip Him down from Heaven 24/7/365? Please!

As "do this", we the Church understand the full enchilada. We believe Jesus wasn't lying when he said "this is my body,... this is my blood". So the bread was literally his body, the wine literally his blood (John 6: 55-60). So doing "this" means doing exactly that what Jesus did. We, the Church, do this every day. You are not "off base", you just haven't covered the fullness of it.

This has never made sense to me. At the Last Supper when Jesus broke the bread and shared the wine... He said "do this in memory of me". I know the catholic church and some other denominations have communion. But I always interpreted that as having a meal of fellowship in his name. Eating and having a drink, talking about our lord and loving each other. Am I way off base?

If the Pope said this, he's an illiterate man with no comprehension of the Muslim faith and their absolute opposition to Christianity. Islam clearly teaches that lying, cheating and stealing from "infidels" is appropriate until they become the majority. At that point, we must convert or die by the sword.

@LarryTaunton We can all get a little overheated when a particular theological nerve gets pinched, but I was reminded this morning of the brilliant words of Augustine from 14 centuries ago: “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.”
