I always assumed that it copied the full attack with conditions met (even if theyre not) to avoid more complicated boardstate checks

The Metagross + Slowking ruling has caused a TON of controversy in my recent YouTube video. Regardless of what seems right or wrong based on the translation, Metallic Hammer is currently being used in numerous Japanese Slowking decks to deal 300 damage.
