Lots of weird takes on the Hungarian election result from both left and right here.
Peter Magyar is a socially conservative immigration restrictionist who wants to cut taxes and double the defence budget. He criticized Orban for admitting too many guest workers, and wants to increase Hungary's already generous pro-natal incentives.
On virtually every issue, his platform is well to the right of centre, by European standards.
His foreign policy is to end Orban's alliance with Putin, remove the Hungarian veto on EU loans to Ukraine, normalize relations with the European Union while opposing more Euro integration, and strengthen relations with Eastern Europe's anti-Russian governments, e.g. Poland.
His election was not a sudden shift to the left, but a rejection of Orban's corruption, the failure of his interventionist / statist economic policies, and the humiliation of his relationship with Putin.

Es ist ein beeindruckender Sieg über den nihilistischen, anti-europäischen und autoritären Rechtspopulismus, der sich in der AfD leider auch in unserem Land breit gemacht hat.
TISZA zeigt uns aber, dass das kein Naturgesetz sein muss. Man muss aufhören den Rechtspopulisten das Thema "Volk" und "Heimat" kampflos zu überlassen. Magyar hat gezeigt, dass man Sorgen um Souveränität, Migration und nationale Identität ernst nehmen kann, ohne in anti-europäischen Isolationismus abzurutschen.
Eine patriotische, pro-europäische und gleichzeitig pragmatische Partei ist mehrheitsfähig. Und zwar ohne in den inszenierten Kulturkampf der Rechtspopulisten abzugleiten. Präsenz vor Ort zeigen, reingehen in die Hochburgen der Rechtspopulisten aber ohne dabei den moralischen Zeigefinger zu heben und eine glaubhafte Botschaft der Erneuerung mitbringen. Dann können zentristische Mitte-Rechts-Kräfte gegen Rechtspopulisten bestehen. 🇪🇺🇭🇺

⚪️ Checkpoints across highways and intersections with IRGC, Zainebiyoun, Fatemiyoun, and Hashd al-Shaabi flags, creating traffic paralysis and harassing civilians
⚪️ Parks, schools, and mosques occupied by security forces, with suppression units deployed across major junctions
⚪️ Government offices barely functioning, staff absent, services abandoned mid-day, and phone response near zero
⚪️ Public transport reduced drastically, with buses repurposed for Basij and special units
⚪️ Banking system failing, ATMs empty, cash nearly impossible to access
⚪️ Schools effectively shut down, universities pushed online without internet or infrastructure
⚪️ Civil government sidelined, real control concentrated in IRGC and security institutions

تهران پر شده از تویوتا هایلوکسهای مسلح به دوشکا. چهره شهر دقیقا مثل دوران حکومت داعش بر رقه و موصل شده! یگان ویژه در پارکها، مدارس و مساجد مستقر هستند. ایستهای بازرسی بیشتر شدن ولی با تعداد نفرات کمتر. اکثر چهارراههای اصلی نیروی سرکوب مستقر کردن. زیر پلهای تمام اتوبانها ایست بازرسی با پرچم جمهوریاسلامی، زینبیون، فاطمیون و حشدالشعبی، با ایجاد ترافیک تعمدی و آزار و اذیت مردم جولان میدن. تهران عملا تبدیل شده به پادگان میلیشیای اجنبیهای تحت امر سپاه! مبارک امرای بیغیرت ارتش. شرکتهای خصوصی با تمام نیرو فعال هستند اما ادارات دولتی که قرار بود با ۵۰درصد کارمندان مشغول باشن، در بهترین حالت ۳۰درصد هم حضور ندارن. همون تعداد هم وسط روز ول میکنن میرن. یعنی شما آخر وقت به ادارات سر بزنی، تقریبا کسی نیست. پاسخگویی تلفنی تقریبا صفر شده. سیستم حمل و نقل شهری هم کمتر از نصف دوران قبل جنگ شده. اتوبوسهای شهری اکثرا در اختیار یگانهای ویژه و بسیج هستن. برای استراحت و تعویض لباس. درواقع دولتی وجود نداره و همه چیز تحت کنترل سپاه و نهادهای امنیتیه. دولت عملا تبدیل شده به یک نهاد تشریفاتی برای پیشبرد اهداف مالی، اجتماعی و نظامی سپاه. ارگانهای دولتی شبیه کلونیهای مستقلی شدن که هیچ ارتباطی با هم و با ارگانهای بالادستی ندارن. سامانههای آموزشی مثل شاد غیرفعال هستن، عملا درس و مدرسه تعطیل شده. دانشگاهها رو هم که مجازی کردن، اما با کدوم اینترنت و بستر؟ هیچ... سامانههای دولتی، خدماتی و بانکی هم یک در میان کار میکنن. خودپردازها اکثرا پول ندارن، پول نقد نمیشه پیدا کرد. تهران، دیگه تهران سابق نیست و جای اون همه تکاپو و هیجان و شلوغی رو فوج فوج نیروی سرکوب و خودروهای زرهی مسلح گرفته. هیچ وضعیتی در اینجا عادی نیست. این تصاویر سفارشی و فیکی که از پارکها و کافهها میاد رو باور نکنید. این روزها اگر شرایط امنیتی و امکانات اجازه میداد میشد مستندی از حال و روز تهران ساخت و اسمش رو گذاشت: تهران؛ شهر مردگان متحرک! اما مردم هنوز امیدوار هستن. شکست مذاکرات اسلامآباد خبر خوبی برای مردم بود. چون هنوز امید دارن که تکلیف این حکومت وحشی مشخص بشه. واقعیت اینه که مردم از شروع دوباره جنگ میترسن اما از جان گرفتن دوباره جمهوریاسلامی بیشتر هراس دارن. #جاويدشاه 🇮🇷
