and that's because the lens through which many indian men see women's freedom is fundamentally distorted. freedom is not viewed as autonomy. it is viewed as excess. something suspicious. something to be mocked, disciplined, or brought back under control. that's why so many "jokes" eventually circle back to women's bodies, sexuality, fertility, clothing, or behaviour. the joke is rarely the punchline. the joke is that a woman dared to exist outside the role they imagined for her.

what strikes me about so many indian male comedians is not that they're sexist. it's how unimaginative their sexism is. they live in a country with billionaires, lynch mobs, caste atrocities, surveillance, ecological collapse, and political prisoners. yet somehow the object of fascination remains women. women on instagram. women showing skin. women dating. women not dating. women having children. women not having children. because for many indian men, women are the first territory they are taught to govern. long before they understand the state, they understand control. control of sisters. wives. daughters. girlfriends. and when that control weakens, it reappears as humour. the joke becomes a socially acceptable way of expressing anxiety about women's freedom.

It’s not just Pranit More, Madhur Virli, or Harsh Gujral. There’s another comedian, Kaviraj Singh, whose work often crosses into sexism and misogyny. A quick scroll through his content shows a pattern: patriarchal “jokes” passed off as casual observations. In one clip, he talks about schoolgirls “showing cleavage” on Instagram. The issue isn’t just the line, but the fixation, why a grown man is so focused on that in the first place. Bodies aren’t public property, and social media isn’t built for one kind of gaze. In another, he calls women’s ability to give birth their biggest “cool factor.” That reduces women to a single function, ignoring everything else they are — professionals, creators, leaders, caregivers, and more. He needs to be cancelled, just like Pranit More, along with all comedians who normalise this kind of sexism. @readkavi

Even Obama or Biden might have handled Iran better than this. JD Vance signing his dream deal with Tehran is like signing a PEACE DEAL with a SHARK and then acting surprised when it STILL BITES. God bless America. I respect President Trump, but I trust the Iranian regime about as much as I TRUST a CROCODILE to BABYSIT. Trump shouldn't play business with Middle Eastern politics. In the Middle East, it's soccer-football. Israel knows the pitch better. The Islamic regime in Iran treats every agreement like extra time, KEEP BREAKING the RULES and HOPE the REFEREE NEVER blows the final whistle. No deal is better than a bad deal. If Iran won't dismantle its nuclear and missile programs, stop funding terrorism, and keep the Strait of Hormuz open, then close this file the way you closed Obama's Iran file, and finish the job.

@Yadofied Also, a huge number of Indians die at home (read this as undetected diseases). Data on anything related to Indian healthcare must be taken with a huge grain of salt because of massive disparities in access & affordability of healthcare across the country (& across income groups).

India is not perfect and given the scale, bad events will happen, but If Indian food were the poison these videos claim, you'd see it in the bodies. Instead India's gastric cancer rate is among Asia's lowest, below Japan, Korea, and China. Under-five mortality halved between 2000 and 2017. Waterborne diseases are going down.
