🚨MY OPINION:🚨 I have learned that the Grove City (Pa) School Board will vote in May to eliminate the full time athletic director position to save money. They will inexplicably attempt to make the athletic director a supplemental position. Grove City has 21 varsity programs which have been a significant bright spot for the school, students and community. The school has hosted District and PIAA playoff games recently with more to follow with the ongoing Forker Field renovations. Current AD Casey Young has been at GC for 20 years doing an excellent job. A professional athletic director who has accommodated me and my staff at every occasion. Let me say it again, athletics are integral to the growth of students and the athletic director position is NOT a part time job. High School Sports are not a part time activity. Budget pressures are real, but this feels like classic short-term thinking. Making the role into a part time position signals to everyone—students, families, coaches—that sports are an afterthought, not a vital part of education.
