Shuja-ud-Daula’s myopic alliances were self-defeating. His siding with Abdali over the Marathas brought him isolation, subordination while his alliance with the Mughals & Nawab of Bengal at Buxar cost him his autonomy to the British.

1764 Buxar; Shuja-ud-Daula joined the alliance of Mughals & the Nawab of Bengal against the British East India Company. His alliance lost against the British. With far reaching strategic impact; Shuja has lost his autonomy & a part of his kingdom.

1761 Panipat; Awadh's Nawab, Shuja-ud-Daula joined the jihad of Afghan Monarch Ahmad Shah Abdali against the Hindu Marathas. Marathas lost. Shuja however gained nothing important strategically to risk Maratha hostility. In-fact being Shia, he's mistreated in Abdali's war camp.

Sukladhwaja was the brother of Koch King Nara Narayan. He’s fondly called “Chilarai”; the Kite Prince for his lightning fast cavalry & riverine warfare. His victories made the Mughals so impressed that even 50 years later, they sought the Koch Kingdom not as vassal but as ally.

1563; The Ahom king fled, the enemy troops overran Garhgaon; the Ahom capital. Prestige shattered. The Ahoms accepted over lordship of their enemy in Treaty of Majuli. The man behind this stunning success of the enemy Koch military was their Commander-in-Chief; Gen Sukladhwaja.

1757 AD; Conspiring with Siraj's rivals; East India Company toppled him after Battle of Plassey. Siraj was soon killed. 2026 AD; Maduro was abducted by US military surgical strike. Separated by 269 years; both rulers met almost same fate when they resisted foreign dominance.

1757 AD; Bengal’s Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah tried to use his sovereign power against East India Company’s abuse of trade permits & direct political interference. 2025 AD; Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro tried to keep state control of mineral resources & resist US interference.

Luck favoured Maj Gen Wellesley when a chance meeting with a local villager revealed a river ford, letting him outflank the enemy. Wellesley defeated the Maratha armies in a brutal battle at Assaye. He later acknowledged unparalleled Maratha valour he saw in his military career.

1803; British forces led by Maj Gen Wellesley defeated the Maratha armies of Scindia & Bhonsle in Battle of Assaye. The battle was Wellesley's first great victory that he'd later described as his finest & bloodiest accomplishment even over his defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo.

After months under Durrani siege, this few hours evening clash hit the Maratha morale very hard. Losing a top commander that too in a mere skirmish even before the war started; made the coming storm at Panipat feel even darker & outcome more clearer for the Marathas.

Rohillas lost many men. Even their chieftain Najib ad-Dawlah was shot in the arm & his uncle Khalil was killed. The Marathas suffered less but paid a steep price as one of their top commanders, Balwant Rao Mehendale was killed by a Rohilla sniper & his body was mutilated.

Before the 3rd Battle of Panipat; Marathas & Durranis fought many skirmishes. The fiercest came on this day 265 years ago in 1760 when the Rohilla troops broke into the Maratha camp & came close to the centre. Maratha elite Huzurat Cavalry drove them out inflicting heavy losses.

No vassal served the Mughals better than the House of Jaipur. These Rajputs carried the Mughal Banner from Afghanistan to Assam, from Kashmir to Deccan. Whether suppressing the rebellion or the war of succession; House of Jaipur remained resolute in their service to the empire.

For six years; the Rajputs held out against the Delhi Sultanate. Then the Sultan himself arrived with his trusted General Kamāl al-Dīn Gurg. It took three months to finally conquer the fort. The Siege of Siwana (1308 CE) remains as one of the longest battles of Alauddin Khilji.

Both were branded as “tyrants". Both defied the superpower of their era. Both were overthrown by force. One was killed on the battlefield, the other was hanged. Both Tipu Sultan & Saddam Hussein met similar fates in their fight against the British Empire & the United States.

He wrote the military manual "Fath-ul-Mujahideen" on “Nizam‑i‑Fauj” (Militaty Administration) & “Tadabir‑i‑Harb” (Tactics Of War). He's accused of betrayal that led to Tipu Sultan's death in 1799. He's Zein ul‑Abidin Shustari; a Mysorean Military Commander of Tipu Sultan.

July-1849; the idea of Lieutenant (later General) Franz von Uchatius to use balloon swarm with time fuse bomb marked the first UCAV/Loitering Munition strike. It's launched from a naval platform by Austrian Empire on Venice. It's dawned the age of drone warfare & naval aviation.

As the Governor of Tughlaq Empire; Shamsuddin Ilyas Shah led the first Muslim army into Nepal, sacked Kathmandu for 03 days. He’s known as the founder of Ilyas Shahi Dynasty the King who integrated Bengal into one political-social-linguistic entity including Bengali language.
