China’s policy toward Japan has not and will not change because of one election. That said, this Japanese election reflected some deep-seated and structural issues as well as views, trends and developments in Japan that deserve serious examination. Our message to those running the Japanese government: the Chinese people will not waver in safeguarding China’s core interests, the outcomes of WWII victory and the postwar international order, and will always fight back provocations and reckless moves against China.
