John Tortorella declined to speak with the media after advancing to the Western Conference finals. The Golden Knights also didn’t open the dressing room after the game. They brought 1 player into a side room to speak, along with the two who spoke at the podium. I’ve been covering the NHL for nine years and never seen either of those happen once.

In retrospect, more than any roster move, Knoblauch losing Gulutzan & Coffey at the end of last season may have been the biggest moves that cost him his job. Coffey had to be rushed back to steady the #Oilers defence & secure a playoff spot.

Thought that was an A+ press conference from the Canucks. Spoke like leaders who want to put in the work to make it right. It’s about building organizations to contend and not teams to make the playoffs. They may be a long way away from contending but the structure is in place.
