@HumanUDP @2hea1 But i dont really see why anyone should keep using webpack + next, when rspack passes 99.6% of all the next tests already.

@ScriptedAlchemy @2hea1 Maybe I got some time over the weekend to somehow get webpack ๐Ÿค” But never investigated deeper on how worked nor worked... Is it alright to keep nextjs-mf a little longer + the PR?

for another hour or two till the push that rm -rf nextjs-mf. Then push a replacement v9 for pages router on it. I have pr open to rspack for RSC support, but go on paternity leave on monday. I send teams the RFC so Im hoping @2hea1 can take my work and drive it home, then when i return i can ship app dir support for next.

yeah i updated to the latest next 16 and it broke again, only solution was 4000 lines of hacks. At least with rspack, its under our control and im not fighting against nexts bundled webpack. i deep import code from webpack core, the next private webpack env var i used has stopped working properly and the singleton webpack instance breaks because next patches require hooks. If they didn't bundle webpack into next, it would have worked. I can try to ship a webpack one but it will break with every patch release and i have better things to do with my tokens.

The hubris of young hyper-online people is sickening. You grew up in an era of multiple social media accounts, your brain was still forming and constant rapid information thrown at you. Many of your brains were still forming as AI videos became prevalent. Boomers were historically conditioned on the heuristic of โ€œseeing is believing.โ€ They likely only have one or two social media accounts. They didnโ€™t have the same brainrot consuming, comment reading, echo chamber checking cognitive training you had from childhood. โ€œTheyโ€™re just stupid,โ€ is the most moronic, shortsighted explanation

Interesting that the react team chose babel to make the react compiler with. I assume the react compiler is only used with modern setups, which probably use swc or perhaps oxc. But on the other hand, Babel is still used A LOT

Claude Code wiped our production database with a Terraform command. It took down the DataTalksClub course platform and 2.5 years of submissions: homework, projects, and leaderboards. Automated snapshots were gone too. In the newsletter, I wrote the full timeline + what I changed so this doesn't happen again. If you use Terraform (or let agents touch infra), this is a good story for you to read. alexeyondata.substack.com/p/how-i-droppeโ€ฆ
