Lavonte David named 3 Bucs he could see take over as a team captain with his departure via retirement: Tykee Smith, Calijah Kancey and Yaya Diaby. He called Smith, whom he took under his wing, his younger brother. Smith plays with an edge and is an emerging leader on defense.

Bucs fans this is for yall…….. In life when great things end we tend to focus on the fact that it’s gone. Or how could it have lasted longer instead of remembering and focusing on the great that did happen…….. Mike Evans gave the Bucs and the city of Tampa his HOF career. He made NFL history on our field, he caught his 100th TD on our field, he won a SB for the city on our field. He was selfless in every way. Selfless with his teammates, org and the city!! We couldn’t have asked for much else from him. Allow him to finally be about MIKE EVANS!! Which he never has been. Him wearing a different jersey will never take away from the fact he IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE A BUC!! Love yall!! 🙏🏾

And I take back the timing. There was a specific point during Gruden's tenure where opposing fans started flocking to the lower bowl. Dungy's rise changed everything about the gameday experience. A few years into Gruden when the sons took over, it went to absolute shit.

Tom Brady spent 20 years in NE before coming to Tampa to win a championship in one season. NE was not set up for success after he left. Mike Evans did not abandon the team, noting the Bucs WR room is still very talented. If Tampa can't win another, I hope Mike gets his second.

It's clear there are obvious holes on this roster, and they're not done working on it. It's also evident that their individual additions are better replacements for what they lost. I think Rachaad White would be the outlier in that scenario, but it was clear he was done.

Also, I think Jason Licht is an outstanding GM in a difficult situation with difficult owners. I won’t always agree with him. Anybody who does is probably carrying water. But I absolutely think he is far from the biggest issue in their recent wilting.

Maybe I've just been covering the Bucs too long, but when was the last time a team "won" the offseason and went on to win actual games (aside from getting a new coach or QB)? IIRC the Raiders were universally considered to have a home run offseason last year...

@Wizard_Unreal Yeah, the season didn't end the way anyone wanted it to. I was also ready for this to happen and expected it understanding the cap scenario and the positions to be addressed. Mike earned the right to go do what he wanted to do.

@IAmTHATFish Very hard not to jump on the wagon after the season that just happened. Would be different if maube they made the playoffs with a winning record, even 9-8. But having a second half collapse like that... im sure made him think extremely hard about wanting to come back.

He earned his right to leave and the team has a right to manage their cap.
This is how it goes in professional sports sometimes. They do not have to be a soap opera. We make them one.

@IAmTHATFish I think that the majority of the criticism is toward the retaining of Bowles. This is a coach who had a disastrous second half of the season, but yet was able to keep his job. Mike has been with the bucs long enough to know what a good coach looks like, and what a bad one does.
