Idaho joins in mourning the passing of former Governor Dirk Kempthorne, a statesman whose legacy of leadership, service and unwavering love for the Gem State leaves an enduring mark on our state and nation. Kempthorne died on Friday, April 24. Idaho House Majority Caucus Chairman Jaron Crane said, “Dirk Kempthorne represented the very best of Idaho — strong leadership, deep conviction, humility and a servant’s heart. His impact on our state will be felt for generations. Our prayers are with Patricia, Jeff, Heather and the entire Kempthorne family during this difficult time. Idaho has lost a remarkable leader, but his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of public servants and citizens alike.”

In December 2025 a young boy named Benjamin, died in Nampa who was just 12 days old. A group of concerned parents contacted me. Together we worked on legislation that became known as Benji's Law HB 776. This week Governor Little signed it into law. I carried it in the House and Senator Tammy Nichols carried it in the Senate. I want to publicly thank Gov. Little for signing HB776.
