We remember Trooper Layton Davis. Trooper Layton Davis was shot and killed while making a traffic stop on Interstate 57, near Effingham. Trooper Davis stopped a vehicle occupied by two escaped convicts. During the stop one of the escapees slipped a .357 caliber revolver into his waist band. As Trooper Davis frisked him, he spotted the revolver and a struggle ensued. Trooper Davis was shot and succumbed to his injuries. Both escapees were apprehended and sentenced to 100+ years in prison. Trooper Davis served with the Illinois State police for 19 years and was assigned to District 12. Trooper Davis was a WWII veteran and survived by his wife and three children. End of Watch, March 18, 1976 #NeverForget

📱 Text a friend. 🚕 Grab a cab or hop on the bus. 🚗 Order an Uber or Lyft. 🙋‍♂️ Pick a designated driver. 😴 Stay overnight. 🚶Walk if you’re close enough. There are plenty of ways to get home safely. But whatever you do… don’t drive after drinking.

Every single time someone takes their eyes or their focus off the road - even for just a few seconds - they put their lives and the lives of others in danger. Distracted driving is unsafe, irresponsible and in a split second, its consequences can be devastating. Daylight Saving Time begins tomorrow and that means it’s time to 𝘴𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥! ⏰🌅 Even a small change in sleep can have a big impact on alertness, especially during the morning commute. Reduced visibility and increased fatigue can lead to slower reaction times and a higher risk of crashes. Plan ahead, allow extra travel time, stay off your phone, and practice patience with other drivers who may also be adjusting to the time change. A safe commute starts with you. Drive alert. Drive focused. Drive responsibly. 🚔 #TrafficSafety #DaylightSavings2026 #DriveSmart
