If you’re in the Northeast, you’ve probably seen a spotted lanternfly this summer. The invasive species has spread to 19 states where they chow down on dozens of plants, especially grape vines. Deema Zein reports.

CHECK YOUR TREE MONTH: BOX TREE MOTH - The box tree moth, Cydalima perspectalis. To date, we have not identified this pest within Indiana. The caterpillars are ravenous feeders and will cause significant damage to ornamental boxwoods when present.

AUGUST IS CHECK YOUR TREE MONTH: ASIAN LONGHORNED BEETLE (ALB). There are two specific native beetles that are easily mistaken for ALB. The cottonwood borer and the whitespotted sawyer. See our photo comparisons. Suspicious insects can be reported at DEPP@dnr.IN.gov

Anyone heading to Indianapolis for the Indiana State Fair should be sure to come by the DNR Building and stop in to see all the wonderful exhibits including the invasive species booth! The Indiana State Fair runs from Aug. 1 through Aug. 17, closed on Mondays.#IndianaStateFair
