The legendary Robert Vigna of @Immolation joins me this week to dissect one of death metal’s most enduring legacies. We dig into the band’s remarkable longevity, the creative fire that still drives them, and the making of their upcoming album Descent. Robert reflects on Immolation’s early days in the underground, his decades-long creative partnership with Ross Dolan, and what fans can expect from their upcoming tour alongside Deicide, Behemoth and Rotting Christ. On the Weekly News Rant: I tackle your latest questions and round up the latest singles by Doedsvangr, Moonspell, Dimmu Borgir, Nargaroth and more for judgment. Canadian black metal insurgents Beholder return to the Unsanctioned Filth spotlight—while another UF alumni finds themselves on the receiving end of the Swirly of the Week. Out now on all digital platforms.

@hellrippermetal mastermind, James McBain, joins me on the show this week to chart the band’s evolution from a one-man black/speed metal assault to one of the most electrifying forces in the underground. We get into his songwriting process, the evolution of the Hellripper sound, and how he overcame performance anxiety to emerge as one of metal’s most commanding frontmen. On the Weekly News Rant, I react to two huge surprises from the past weekend: a new Darkthrone record and the long-awaited return of Neurosis. I also share first impressions of new material from Ashen Horde, High Parasite, and Samael, plus my take on the divisive new Exodus album—and plenty more. PLUS: Unsanctioned Filth spotlights rising Mexican chaos merchants Ov Darkness I Breed. Hey @elonmusk - do a fellow ANC-loathing South African a solid and have my friend @MercyfulKate's wrongfully terminated account reinstated. CC: @Support
Katy Irizarry // Mercyful Kate@SuspiriaPR

Hey @elonmusk @X @Support, I don't appreciate having my account of nearly 20 years, @mercyfulkate, nuked for "inauthenticity." I have no clue why this happened, but losing that account has actually affected my career as a publicist. I lost my network & a promotional tool

I wonder if the algorithm flagged your account because of the multiple bot accounts impersonating you. Then again, yours is clearly the authentic account amongst the slop just using your name, so how something or someone in the chain would be too stupid to detect that is beyond me.

I don't engage in politics as I find that to be low IQ behavior & the only time I am fighting on here is to defend my friends from being attacked. I don't even fight w/ the people who attack & harass me. Please restore my account. This is completely unacceptable.

It's not that Randy is political it's that his political outrage is selective and happens to align with the most mainstream trends at the time. He's as rebellious as The View. He wrote a whole long rambling substack telling his fans to resist ICE (which could be seen as encouraging his fans to commit suicide by cop) yet was a major Covid vaccine pusher, requiring vaccine cards to enter shows where the audience can scream songs about "resistance". Randy hasn't said a god damn word about any of the details found in the Epstein files. When he wrote his Anti ICE Substack that was the same time as the Iranian blackout where thousands were slaughtered in the streets. Did he say anything about that? Nope. He claimed the Maduro removal left Venezuela worse than it already was....I'd sure love to hear some Venezuelans opinions on that. When Trump was elected Randy claimed Elon Musk was the real president and that he'd heard from people close to Elon that "all he cares about is gaining more power" yet when Elon was booted from the White House and was beefing with Trump did Randy go back and correct that take? Of course not. He went to the No Kings protests organized by millionaires and viewed it as genuine resistance against tyranny. You can talk about politics all you want but when your political takes are as surface level as a Stephen Colbert monologue people are going to roll their eyes at your hypocrisy.

Christian Larson from US black metal legion @necrofier joins the podcast this week to discuss the band’s sensational new album, Transcend Into Oblivion. We dig into Necrofier’s decision to sign with Metal Blade Records, talk about the changing realities of the modern music industry, and Christian breaks down the real cost of touring the United States. We also go deep on his festival Hell’s Heroes, which returns this year for its eighth edition. On the weekly news rant, I round up the latest singles from Deathstorm, Archspire, Warsenal, Yoth Iria, and Trelldom for judgment. I also answer more of your questions, including ranking my favourite Marduk albums and revealing some of the cover songs I’d love to see metal bands take on. There’s also a Premiere on the Sphere, as Australian black metallers Graveir unveil the first taste of their upcoming album, The Festering Triad. And finally, labelling bands as “sketch” based on hearsay and internet rumour earns one member of the online red guard a double dunk in the Swirly of the Week. This week on Into The Necrosphere, Hellenic black metal legend The Magus joins me to discuss his new album Daemonosophia and his pivotal role in shaping the Greek black metal movement as a founding force behind Necromantia. We revisit the roots of the Hellenic scene, his creative brotherhood with Baron Blood, the occult philosophy driving his work, his devotion to medieval fencing, and his unfiltered perspective on modern society and the state of the underground. In Unsanctioned Filth, one-man black metal entity Death Ritual earns his stripes among the unsigned elite, while Matt Priso (SIK, Spells Ov Torment, Conspiracy X) joins the Weekly News Rant to pass judgement on new releases from Aversio Humanitatis, Sepultura, Monstrosity, Cruel Force and more. We answer questions from the Legion — and award a fully merited Swirly of the Week to those who think a 35-year-old horror film should come with a sensitivity warning.  Catch the full episode now on all digital platforms: YOUTUBE: youtu.be/crxeZc19alY APPLE: apple.co/38wDYhi AMAZON: amzn.to/3epNJ4K SPOTIFY: spoti.fi/3iKqbIP

This week I welcome back the legendary Sakis Tolis of Greek black metal titans Rotting Christ. We discuss the upcoming “Godless IV” tour alongside Behemoth, Immolation and Deicide, the re-recording of the seminal “Aealo”, and Sakis reflects on the early days of his musical journey — plus plenty more. Then it’s on to the weekly news rant: No/Mas, Metal Church, Down, Slagmaur and Melechesh all get their latest singles rounded up for judgment. I break down the latest developments surrounding the Nevermore reunion, talk about my favourite lyricists in metal, and deliver what may be my most scathing Swirly yet. PLUS: Cnoc An Tarsa return with their first album in eight years — and debut a new track on this week’s Premiere On The Sphere. Thumbnail to the savage of savages, NecrosHorns. That's the key for me. They've found someone who can technically and very competently sing those songs, but the connection that Warrel had to the lyrics is something that they cannot replicate. I like Jeff Loomis a lot. I think he's a tremendous guitarist and a great songwriter. I also understand why they would choose to continue under the Nevermore name from a business perspective. But artistically, they should have launched this as its own thing. It'll never be Nevermore. Not to me (or you) anyway.
