Jatayah won the girls discus with a 26.19. Fynlee Wilson was 9th. Tre'Siah Harrison was 2nd in discus with PR of 37.41 M Jamarion Simms was 7th 30.85 Ma Kavion 9th Emery won girls javelin with a throw of 34.77M beating 2nd play by almost 40 feet. Jazzlyn was 6th Jatayah 7th.

We had an awesome start to our season today! What a good group of kids who really showed out at Central.  We started out strong with Ondrell Hernandez winning the 100M hurdles. Followed by Maxton Puckett winning his debut in the 110M Hurdles.

Emery Omon destroyed the school record in shot put with an early class 3 best 12.20M Jatayah McDonald was 2nd with an 8.66M, Jazzlyn was 7th On the boys side TreSiah was 4th with a PR of 11.3 M, Ma Kavion Lucas-Cook was 5th with a PR of 11.24.

In girls triple jump , Laniya Carriger was 3rd and Jaionyah 4th In girls High Jump- Laniya was 6th Jason won the boys high jump by .2 meters

Ondrell Hernandez took 4th in Long jump with a PR of 4.1 Meters Karmi Stasa was 6th at 3.82, Zoey Dwyer 7th, Jaionyah Blakley 8th and Mya Long 10th Gage Cooper was 8th on the boys side and Iverson Johnson was 11th.

The girls 4x400 team of Maci Dulcan, Mya Long, Taniyah Miller and Karmi Stasa took 2nd The Boys 4x400 team of Gage Cooper, Zander Kline, Damarion Davis and Jason Claycomb took 4th in a very fast group. Success was not limited to the track!

Jason Claycomb won the boys 200M with an impressive PR of 24.30. Gage Cooper was 12th while Zander Kline PR'd at 26.45 good enough for 13th. The throwers relay of Jazzlyn Nelson, Ma Kavion Cook, TreSiah Harrison and Emery Omon was dominant.

Maxton Puckett won the 300 hurdles by over 3 seconds with a time of 46.28. Karmi Stasa ran 6th in the 800M and Reese Drechsel was 10th. Emery Omon ran a blistering 26.90 to win the 200M with Rozlyn placing 2nd. Taniyah Miller was 10th

Rozlyn McDevitt won the 100M dash, with Ondrell coming in 4th.  On the boys side Jason Claycomb was 7th with a PR of 12.54.  In the 400M dash, Damarion Davis was 2nd with a 59.83 in cold conditions. In the girls 300M Ondrell PR's with a very impressive 51.85 and was second

I cannot stress this enough: PLAY MULTIPLE SPORTS IN HIGH SCHOOL New teams, new roles, new bonds built, new opportunities to compete, etc. College coaches love to see multi-sport athletes and prefer them over specialization. This has never changed. This is a hill I die on.

A sports specialization study at UCLA found that 88% of NCAA Division I athletes played an average of two to three sports growing up. I spoke with a Sioux Falls athlete and trainer who have seen the direct impacts of the multi-sport experience.
