STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU HOSTS NGX GROUP BOARD AND SEC DIRECTOR-GENERAL IN BRAZIL, INVITED TO NGX TRADING FLOOR President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Nigeria’s capital market's remarkable growth since he assumed office over two years ago. He noted the phenomenal rise in market capitalisation and increased trading activity, which have broadened investment opportunities for Nigerians and international investors. President Tinubu spoke on Tuesday when he received the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Board of Directors of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc during his state visit to Brazil. He described the market’s performance as a clear reflection of investor confidence in his administration's reforms and bold economic measures. “Nigeria’s markets must be a trusted engine of enterprise and prosperity. My government will continue to pursue reforms that unlock capital, protect investors, and drive innovation, so that our economy works for every Nigerian,” President Tinubu said. President Tinubu lauded the NGX Board and SEC leadership for their commitment, affirming his administration’s unwavering resolve to elevate Nigeria’s financial ecosystem. He stressed that this dialogue is vital to achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda’s economic targets and positioning Nigeria as Africa’s premier investment destination. The President promised to continue supporting the capital market and was ready to implement additional reforms to strengthen and expand the sector. SEC Director-General Dr. Emomotimi Agama applauded the recent signing of the Investment and Securities Act (ISA) 2025 and described it as one of Africa’s most comprehensive legal frameworks for capital markets. He stated that the Act will propel Nigeria toward a ₦300 trillion market while ensuring equitable wealth distribution through strong investor protection and regulatory clarity. NGX Group Chairman, Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, expressed gratitude for the President’s bold reforms, noting that trading volumes and market values have nearly tripled since the commencement of the current administration. He urged the fast-tracking of the listing of major state-owned enterprises, such as NNPC Limited, and the introduction of tax incentives to sustain this momentum. He also invited the President to visit the NGX trading floor to recognise these achievements. Temi Popoola, Group CEO of NGX Group, emphasised the importance of positioning Nigeria’s Exchange as a global investment hub through stronger partnerships, modernised market infrastructure, and deeper product innovation. He joined the delegation in thanking the President for his bold reforms. Furthermore, he emphasised that expanding retail investor participation through digital channels will promote inclusive and sustainable market growth. Nonso Okpala, Director NGX Group Plc, commended the administration’s reforms, citing exchange rate stability and macroeconomic predictability under the Renewed Hope Agenda as drivers of the company’s growth. He encouraged other Nigerian businesses to list on NGX as a pathway to democratising wealth and broadening participation. An average Nigerian driver spends over 40% of daily earnings on fuel, one of the highest in the world. Imagine cutting that by half, while reducing emissions and extending engine life. That’s the vision behind the @NASENIHQ–Portland Daughter Station, launched in Kubwa alongside @Speaker_Abbas and other stakeholders. It’s a step toward cleaner, cheaper energy, and part of our commitment to President @OfficialABAT’s Renewed Hope Agenda for a diversified, sustainable, and industrially vibrant economy. Grateful to everyone who made this possible. Together, we are building a movement that fuels our vehicles, empowers our youth, strengthens our industries, and protects our planet.

Thank you HM @joduwole for reaffirming the importance of our work at @NASENIHQ in building a self-reliant, innovative, and globally competitive Nigeria. Your visit to our facilities, from Nigeria’s first In Vitro Diagnostics & Rapid Diagnosis factory, producing locally made kits for quick, reliable disease detection, to our Innovation Hub, was indeed encouraging to our team. Nigeria currently imports over 90% of its medical test kits, and this factory has the capacity to cut those imports by up to 80%.

It was an honour to join the people of the Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency in Gombe State for the empowerment programme of our friend and brother, the Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ali Isa JC. A total of 2,000 people benefited from the empowerment, which was in addition to another 2,000 constituents that benefited from a similar reach out held earlier in the year. Key highlights of the empowerment included the distribution of tractors, irrigation equipment, and vital inputs to farmers. These agricultural inputs are essential not only for smallholder farmers but also for strengthening the rural economy. Additionally, food items were distributed to enhance food security and mitigate the impact of rising food prices. Also distributed during the empowerment were a fleet of tricycles, motorcycles, and ambulances — mobile solutions to address the issues of mobility, emergency healthcare access, and economic connectivity all at once. Similarly, 30 schools were built in various parts of the constituency, significantly enhancing access to learning for local children. In addition to these schools, approximately 40 solar-powered boreholes and streetlights have been installed across 60 villages and clinics in the constituency; approximately 20 kilometres of road have been completed; 4 Lexus GX470 vehicles to all four first-class chiefs in the constituency, among others. No doubt, this empowerment will go a long way in improving the living condition of the people of Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency. I congratulate the Minority Whip for the successful implementation of this laudable initiative.

Northern Governors’ Forum Chair, Inuwa Yahaya Felicitates Aliko Dangote at 68, Hails Him as Africa’s Industrial Titan The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has joined the global business community in rejoicing with Africa’s foremost industrialist and Chairman of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, on the occasion of his 68th birthday anniversary. Governor Inuwa Yahaya described Alhaji Dangote as a global icon, trailblazing entrepreneur, and an uncommon philanthropist whose contributions have not only impacted Nigeria's economy, but also earned the continent global recognition. He said, “Alhaji Aliko Dangote is a shining example of what visionary leadership, grit, and unyielding commitment to nation-building can achieve. His unmatched investment in critical sectors such as cement, sugar, salt, agriculture, and now oil refining, has redefined Nigeria’s industrial narrative and created thousands of direct and indirect jobs for our teeming population.” Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted that Dangote’s audacious drive to industrialize Africa, especially through the Dangote Refinery, has placed Nigeria on the path of energy security and economic self-reliance, stressing that such patriotic investment is worthy of celebration and emulation. “Alhaji Aliko is not only a business mogul of global repute, but a compassionate philanthropist whose interventions through the Dangote Foundation have impacted millions across health, education, and disaster relief efforts,” the Governor remarked. The Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum also acknowledged Dangote’s steadfast commitment to the development of Northern Nigeria through industrial projects and humanitarian interventions that have uplifted communities and spurred regional growth.
