Salvatore Pais was right. We don't need a huge amount of energy to make a wormhole because there's an extra dimension. We can use electromagnetism to soften spacetime, depositing energy over time instead of paying all at once. That's why these orbs wind up. They're conditioning the vacuum to lower the energy requirement for the jump. This will be proven to be true when the UFO files eventually come out.
