During the Africa Day commemoration at #COP30, H.E. @MosesVilakati , AU Commissioner for DARBE, delivered a powerful call for climate justice highlighting that Africa, home to 20% of the world’s carbon sinks, earns less than 1% of global carbon market revenues. He stressed that COP30 must deliver: 🌍 Reformed carbon markets that value Africa’s ecosystems 💧 Scaled adaptation finance—at least $50B annually 🌱 Investment in nature-based solutions, including the Great Green Wall 👩🏾🔬 Empowerment of Africa’s youth, whose innovation can drive a just, green transition “Africa’s resources, talent, and ambition can help shape a sustainable future.
